Cultural Diversity.

?

Cultural diversity means the variety of people and backgrounds in an area.

People have been moving to live in the UK for centuries. Romans, Normans, Saxons, Vikings, Celts, Picts- everyone who has invaded Britain over the years has brought some of their culture with them, from sport to religion.

In Tudor times many protestants came to England from catholic Europe to escape persecution for their religious beliefs. Later many Irish catholics came to Britain as economic migrants, to escape poverty and  food shortages.

Many Jews were persecuted in Nazi Germany in the 1930's and came to Britain as political migrants. After World War 2 the government encouraged workers from commonwealth countries to come over to help the British economy to recover.

Many people from Pakistan, Bangladesh, china and India came to live in Britain in the 1940's and 50's for a better life.

Changes are still happening.

Travel is now much…
