Khrushcev thought that the newly appointed US, Kennedy was weak, young and inexperienced so decded to place missiles in Cuba. Cuba is very close to florida and therefore, the whole of america went into panic after discovering in 1962 when a U2 spy plane brought back photographs that the USSR was placing missiles in cuba. The public feared not only a nucleur war but also communism taking over america due to fear abd Fidel Castro who was the communist leader of cuba and took sides with the USSR. Kennedy had little time to decdie what to do and had four options...
