ROMAN LAW AND ORDER
CAUSES:
- Greed
- Holiginism at chariot racing
- Alcholism
- Oppurtunity to do it
- Slaves wanting freedom
- Starvation and high food prices
CRIMES:
- Selling underweight bread
- Being a Christian
- Evading taxes
- Murder
- Hooliganism
- Killing the emperor
- Arson
- Being a poor landlord
- Not keeping the street uotside your house tidy
- Patricide (Killing your father)
Could be put to death for; Arson, attacking the emperor, robbing temples, stealing farm animals.
Minor crime; Whipping, repaying the cost of goods, confiscation of property.
Nobles; Could be sentenced to death for serious crimes but could go into excile and avoid excecution.
Legionaires; Those who ran away from battle faced excution and 1 in every 10 men from the legions were exceuted.
Slaves; All the slaves in a household were crucified if one of them tried to kill their master they could give evidence at a trial but only if they were toutured first.
