Cosmological Arguement

HideShow resource information

Aquainas created 5 ways, 3 in the cosmological arguement.

  • 1) The Prime Mover (motion) -everything moves, motion is caused by another mover; this cant be an infinate chain of regress; there must be an unmoved mover outside to start it off
  • 2) The Uncaused Causer (causation) -everything exists becuase of an action causing it to happen i.e. parents having sex. (the efficient cause)They are caused by their parents for infinate regress; there has to be a cause outside of this- the uncaused causer.
  • 3) Absolute and necessary beings (contingency)- everything in the Universe is contingent so at some point is wasnt existing; cant be an infinate chain
