• During the 1580s Sir William Allen, the former mayor of London divided his property between his three daughters. After this they treated him badly.
• In 1603 Sir Brian Annesley's eldest daughter and her husband tried to get him certified as a lunatic, so they could take control of his property. his youngest daughter Cordell was there to save him, by challenging her sister in court.
