Consequences of the Cuban Missile Crisis, 1962

The superpowers had almost gone to war that would've destroyed a lot of the world. However the crisis did lead to better relations:

• The 'hotline': to ensure the two leaders could communicate more quickly and directly, a hotline telephone link was established between the White House and the Kremlin.
