Types of conformity

Kelman proposed 2 types of conformity:

1. Compliance

Going along with others to gain their approval or avoid their disapproval. When individuals are exposed to majority opinion, they adjust their own actions or opinions to fit in and because going along with the majority is desirable. This results it public compliance
