League of Nations.

Diplomacy outisde of the league:

  • The kellogg-Brand pact was signed by 65 countries eg-Britain and Japan.
  • The locaro treaty, this was a bid to improve relations between certain countires.
  • Some countries began to make treaties between themselves and by passing the league together.

Powers of the League of Nations:

They invited countries to a neutral hearing so they could hear the news.International court of justice was set up in 1945.The council could organise enuqirues.There was moral pressure from the league. There were also economic sanctions. Military action could be used aswell.

Memebership of the League:

Woodrow wilson was a very figure in the League so this meant that austria wasnt allowed to join.The ussr wasnt allowed as Russia accused them of being a 'Capatilist country'.When the league was found there were only 45 countries. Four permamnent countries these were Britain,France. Germany wasnt allowed to join untill 1921.

Failure to stop the league:

Failing wasnt the leagues option but it happened. Failing the league meant that Germany woudlnt be able to trade with Britain and France so this would make Germany weak because they would get lack of money eventhough they were the second richest country in the League.
