Fort Laramie Treaty 1851: Its main purpose was to establish peaceful relations between the US government and the Plains Indians through the following agreements - Indians had to agree to not attack travellers on the Oregan trail, and they had to stay on their designated hunting ground. Americans had to agree to not go into hunting land - but both sides broke the Fort Laramie Treaty. Each Indian nation had to appoint head chiefs to the deal with all national business. $50000 was given to the Indians for 10 years if the honoured the treaty, however, money had little to NO value to Indians as they mainly traded in horses and material goods.
