Condensation polymerisation is the joining of two monomers with the elimination of a small molecule such as water or HCl

 Monomers must have a carboxyl group COOH, and a hydroxl group OH and can be made from 2 types of monomer units:

  •  one dicarboxylic acid (2 COOH groups) and one diol (2 OH groups)
