a condensation polymer is a large molecule made from monomers with at least two different functional groups that react together to form chains. a small molecule is lost for each bond formed.


to make a polyester chain you start with one alcohol monomer with an -OH group at each end and a carboxylic acid monomer with a -COOH group at each end.

dicarboxylic acids can react with diols to form ester links-a condensation reaction

the molecule with the ester link has a functional group at each end.
