A pixel

A pixel is a bitmap graphics package which stores data as a two-dimensional frid of pixels. If you zoom in on a bitmap graphic, you can see the pixels. Pixels are tiny dots that make up an image. (The word "pixel" comes from the phrase "picture element".

Resolution

"Resolution" is a term used to give the numbers of pixels in a fixed area.

The higher the resolution is in an image, the mor pixels it'll have, and so it has more detail. The low resolution image has less pixels in it. When it is scaled or zoomed to the same size as the high resolution image, it looks pixelated i.e the image looks blocky.
