open skill is seen in sports such as netball and football where the situation is always changing

eg in football the player has to continually adapt to the situation against opponents

closed skills takes place in a predictable environment and the player knows what to do and when

the skill is not affected by the environment

eg a free throw in basketball

a basic skill is one that the player finds easy 

eg a chest pass in netball

a complex skill needs the players complete attention and concentration as it is difficult to peform
