INTRASPECIFIC COMPETITION.
- Individuals of the SAME SPECIES compete for resources.
- The greater the availablility of resources the larger the population can grow.
Examples:
- Limpets compete for algae.
- The larger oak trees grow, the moe they restrict light water and minerals for the other oak trees.
INTERSPECIFIC COMPETITION.
- Individuals of DIFFERENT SPECIES compete for resources.
- Competitive exclusion principle: when two species are competing for limited resources, the one that uses the resources most efficiently will survive…
