CELLULOSE
Alternating β Glucose molecules allow the chains to be straight and cross linked by Hydrogen bonds to adjacent molecules give strength to these structural fibres (microfibrils) and larger bundles called macrofibrils. Prevents plant cells bursting.
Polymer made out of β 1-4 Glycosidic bonds.
Used to make strong microfibrils to form plant cell walls.
Gaps between microfibrils allow water molecules to pass freely through them
