Both have useful applications. The Behaviourist Approach (BeHA) uses systematic desensitisation which is 80-90% effective over 25-30 sessions. The therapy for the Cognitive approach (CA) which is RET is 90% effective. However both are limited in treating a range of illnesses. e.g. systematic desensitisation only treats people with phobias and in the CA schizophrenia cannot be treated because they find it difficult to rationalise.
