Cell Signalling: The communication between cells that allows effective coordination of a response
Communication achieved through cell-surface molecules - release of hormone like chemicals called cytokines
To detect a signal target cell must have a cell surface receptor
B & T lymphocytes have receptors that are complementary in the shape to the foreign antigen
Antigen may be an isolated protein or attatched to a pathogen ot on surface of a host cell
When antigen detected lymphocyte is activated or simulated
Chemical signals also detected by their target cells using cell surface receptors

What sort of information is commmunicated
Identification:
Pathogen carries antigens on cell surface
These are detected by our body cells

Sending Distress signals:
when body infected by pathogen in infected it's usually damaged in some way
Internal cell organelles…
