TRADITIONAL:A period of free recall followed by a spefic set of questions. Loftus disagress with this as there is a danger of leading questions

There are two assumptions with the cognitive interviews,  that the memory an event is an interconected network and there is several ways of getting to the same point 

Also that retrival will be more effective if context is restrained.
