The Cognitive model characterises schizophrenia as distrubed thinking processes.

Cognitive psychologists believe these disturbed thinking processes are the cause rather than the result of schizoprenia.

They say that when a schizophrenic expereinces a scary sensory experience like a hallucination they will turn to friends and family to confirm the validity of what they are experiencing, when of course the person they turn to cant validate it they assume they are hiding the truth from them.
