Clinical Characteristics of Schizophrenia

Positive Symptoms:

  • Positive symptoms are a change/addition to someones normal behaviour or thoughts.
  • Examples are hallucinations, delusions, distorted thoughts and disorganised speech.

Negative Symptoms:

  • Negative symptons are withdrawal or lack of function which you would usually expect to see in a healthy person.
  • Examples are appearing emotionless, flat and apathetic, social withdrawal.
