AIM- to find out if theres a difference in the structure of brain activity between people who have committed murder and non-murderers
IV-Whether the participant is an offender pleading (NGRI) or a non-murderer in the control group- Controls matched on age and sex- independant group design
DV- Relative glucose levels in lobes of the brain revealed by a PET scan
SAMPLE- 41 offenders (NGRI) and 41 controls. NGRI's 39 men and 2 women.-Opportunity sample
The controls were people of the same age and sex with no history of crime or mental illness
