CONTEXT

Large gap between rich and poor.
Victorian families were large due to high birth rates and increasing life expectancy.
Working class families lived in dirt and misery.
They barely had enough money to buy food and child mortality was very high
There was no healthcare so if you go ill and couldn't work, your whole family was at a risk of dieing.
A lot of children didn't go to school but worked to earn money…
