China's New Power Structure

Chinas New Power Strucutre 

• 1949 Mao set up Democratic Centralism 
• 1949 common programe was set out for China, set out freedom of thought, multiparty system, equal rights for women, soviet economics and Mao as political leader
• Many that werent in the party had a say in the common programme
• However they had little real power, only to create the illusion of democracy
• National Peoples Congress set up in 1954, all members part of the Communist party 
• However once established, laws were very strict and couldnt be deviated from 
• Formed of three branches, the PLA the Communist part and the Central Peoples Government
