1935 - 1945 the creation and the developent of Yanan soviet, this was the base that they develpoped in the North of china away from the GMD in the south. they gained many supporters and for man peasants living there it was better than they had previously lived in, and anything was better than the march they had just done. it provided a degree of security, even if it had very meagre food supplies as the soil was wrong to grow crops
