Epidural Anaesthethetic 

A fine plastic tube placed in the lower part of the spine and a liquid will be put in. Stops pain relief quickly by blocking the nerves that send messages to the brain. The mother is numb waist downwards. 

They can only be given in hospital and the mother will be un aware when to push as she cannot feel contractions. Headaches and backache may occur after birth as an after affect. Increase the length of labour and
