Foster:
- Long term foster care, child stays with family for an extended period of time.
- Short term foster care, child may only be in care for a few hours, days, weekend etc
- Respite for a disabled child who needs 24 hour care.
- Parent working away and no one to look after them.
- Parent/s in prison.
- Abuse within family.
- Child is unsafe to live at home with biological family.
Care homes:
- Small groups of children are looked after by carers in a family like structure. By social services and designed to be short.
Adoptive:
- Parents are legally responsible; they aren't biologically related to child.
- No reversal, no financial help. Long process and a judge decides whether it's allowed.
- Parents are not alive.
- Same sex couples.
