 Indicator is used to determine wether a substance is an acid or an alkali.

• Red - Yellow = Acid
• Green = Neutral
• Blue - Purple = Alkali

• An Acid is a substance with a pH of less than 7.
• Acids form H+ ions in water
• A base is a substance with a pH of greater than 7.
• An alkali is a base that dissolves in water.
• Alkali's form OH- ions in water.

H+ ions make water acidic and OH- ions make them alkaline.
