Exothermic reaction: 

- Heat energy is given out to the surroundings in a chemical reaction.
- The energy content of the product, Hproduct,  is less than the energy content of the reactants, Hreactants.

- As heat energy is given out to the surroundings, the temp in the surrounding increases.
