Limestone and its uses 

  • Limestone is mainly made of up CaCo3 
  • The CaCo3 breaks down when heated strongly to make calcium oxide and carbon dioxide 
  • This reaction is thermal decompostion 

Reactions of Carbonates 

  • Carbonates react with acid to form a salt, water and Co2
  • Cloudy Limewater shows Co2 is present
