Equilibria is when the forward reaction and the backward reaction are happening at an equal rate. 

Example:
We have a box of balls, myself and you are standing on either end. As I put one ball in, you immediately take that ball out. We are doing this at the same speed at the same time... and the number of balls in the box aren't changing.
