Enthalpy Change
deltaH is the heat energy transferred in a reaction at constant pressure. (kJ mol-1)

Exothermic reactions give out energy. deltaH is negative
         oxidation is exothermic
         energy is released when bonds are formed so is exothermic
Endothermic reactions absorb energy. deltaH is positive
         thermal decomposition is endothermic
         bond breaking needs energy so is endothermic
