  • Atomic Orbital = A region in an atom that can hold up to 2 electrons with oppostie spins
  • Types of Orbitals = s,p,d and f.
  • s orbital is spherical
  • p orbital is a 'dumbell' shape
  • Electrons fill orbitals in order of increasing energy
  • Electronic configuration = The arrangement of electrons in an atom
  • The 4s orbitals are filled before the 3d orbitals
  • The configuration for Chromium and copper are not as expected, they end in 4s
  • The s sub-shell can hold 2 electrons
