Chemistry Topic 4 - Titrations & Indicators

?

Titrations allow you to work out exactly how much acid is needed to neutralise an alkaline (or vice versa ) which you can use to work out the concentration of the alkali:

1. Using a pipette and a pipette filter add a set volume of an alkali, with 2/3 drops of indicator to a conical flask.

2. Fill a burette with an acid of known concentration (Make sure the burette is below eye level so you can see it if it spills, you should also be wearing Glasses) and record the initial volume of the acid.

3. Using the burette add the acid to the alkali bit by bit, regularly swirling the conical flask, go especially slowly when
