the easier it is for a metal atom to lose its outer electrons and form a positive ion, the more reactive it will be

practical to see metals reactivity is adding various metals to dilute hydrochloric acid 

the more reactive the metal is the faster the reaction wil go 

very reactive metals will fiz vigorously and less reactive metals will bubble a bit
