Group 7, The halogens
fluorine, chlorine, bromine, iodine, astatine
all have 7 electrons in the outer shell so they all have similar chemical properties
the halogens exist as diatomic molecules, sharing one pair of electrons in a covalent bond gives both atoms a full outer shell
as u go down group 7, the melting and boiling points increase
this means at room temp-
chlorine is a fairly reactive, poisonous, green gas
bromine is a poisonous red-brown liquid which gives off an orange…
