a battery is made up of two or more cells joined together to increase voltage avaliable.

hydrogen is the fuel, potassium hydroxide is the electrolyte and the water is the waste product
hydrogen fuel cells are less polluting to dispose of than rechargeable batteries
when two metals are dipped in a salt solution and joined by wire the more reactive metal donates electrons to the less reactive metal which forms a simple electrical cell
