CORONARY HEART DISEASE (CHD) = when the heart's blood supply is blocked or interrupted by fatty deposits

CAUSES

  • the walls of the articles being blocked by fatty deposits are called Atherosclerosis which can be caused by:
  • smoking
  • high cholesterol
  • high blood pressure
  • high blood pressure
  • diabetes

SYMPTOMS

  • angina (chest pains)
  • heart attacks, failure
  • palpitations
  • fatigue
  • high blood pressure
  • unusual breathlessness

P.I.E.S.F 

PHYSICAL 

  • symptoms
  • may find it difficult to manage changes in diet
  • find it hard to motivate themselves to maintain a new exercise programme

INTELLECTUAL

  • no impact, however, the patient may need to learn knowledge about CHD and its symptoms. 
  • may not be able to concentrate at work because of angina (chest pain)

EMOTIONAL

  • feel down and upset of having the condition
  • feel stress and anxious about the patient's future
  • family- can be affected as they can be anxious about their family member's future as well
