Characteristics of Different Plates.

?

DIFFERENT CHARACTERISTICS OF DIFFERENT PLATES:

* The characteristics of the plates vary whether they are part continent or oceanic crust.

- the Upper section of the mantle os ADHERED (stuck) to the underside of the crust to form what we call the tectonic plate. (So the visible land that we see are stuck on the plates that are floating on the mantle.)

ROCK TYPES:

OCEANIC PLATES (BASALTS) - Dark and a dense rock. Composed of silicates, iron and magnesium.

CONTINENTAL PLATES

> RIDGE RISES; The material deposited on the top of the ridge slide downs from the rise pushing on the plate.
