Hyde murders Danvers Carew
- The maid's acount of the murder is written like a police statement
- we are limited to the maid's persepctive as she's "romantically given" so it's ahrd to know how much we can believe
- The maid's description of the murder of Carew is a shocking change of tone in her initally peaceful acount
- The fact that she faints shows how shocking the murder was
- Carew an old man appear polite and full of "old-world kindness" which emphaises his innocence and shows *** evil Hyde is as he attacks Carew for no reason
- Hyde is described as trampling Carew with "ape-like fury"
- This animalistic descrpition show how he's primal and savage
- Hyde "clubbed" Carew, "trampling" him and giving him a "storm of blows" so that his body "jumped upon the roadway"
- Hyde leaves Carew "incredibly mangled" on the street and it's a brutal and shocking crime
