Cell Fractionation

If you want to look at organelles under an electron microscope first you have to separate them from the rest of the cell. There are three steps to this process;

1. Homogenisation

• This breaks up the plasma membrane and releases the organelles into  a solution.
• Homogenisation can be done in several different wasy e.g. vibration the cells, grinding them up in a blender.
