Eyal and Cohen assessed reactions to the final episode of Friends. The amount of distress was predicted by the intensity of the parasocial relationships.


Eyal and Cohen found that lonely Ps were more distressed at the final Friends episode.

Asche and Mutcheon found shyness and lonliness were weakly associated with strength of parasocial relationships.
