CBT- a form of talking therapy that can help you manage your problems by changing the way you think and behave. Most commonly used t treat anxiety and depression. Consists of two components; cognitive component; therapist helps the client identify any maladaptive thought that may be contributing to their behaviour or condition. Behavioural component; works with client to help them test the reliability of the perceptions through role-play or homework. Techniques used; cognitive restructuring, play script to the end, dysfunctional thought diary and pleasant activity scheduling.

Effectiveness; 

Warwick et al; meta-analysis of youths diagnosed with anxiety disorders. Found that 60% of youths recovered from/ experienced significant symptom reduction of anxiety following cognitive behavioural therapy.
