What is crime?
It is an offence not permitted in law for which there is a punishment.
What are the causes of crime?
Economic
- Lack of money
- Lack of a good education and therefore a lack of good work opportunities
Family
- A dysfunctional family life
- Violence in the family
- Drug abuse in the family
Social/Environmental
- Living in an area where there are lots of drugs around
- Living in an area where there are gangs
- Lack of things to do in an area - teenagers get bored and turn to crime.
