Causes of Collectivisation.

Political:

Feared Germany was preparing for war, so needed strong industry.

Collectivisation appealed to the left and majority of the party as it opposed the NEP and Bukharin.

Producing more grain would lead to self-suffiency, and the money saved could be used for industrialisation.
