High Income Countries (HICs) tend to have a higher carbon footprint than Middle or Lower Income Countries (MICs and LICs). For example, the USA has 38 CO² per capita and is a HIC. The figure for China, a MIC, is much lower at 4 CO² per capita, and Chad (a LIC) has just 0.1 CO² per capita.
