Flooding at the river was due to two types of causes: Physical causes (natural reasons for flooding) and Human causes (actions done by humans to cause flooding).

In this case study there are 3 physical causes and 2 human causes.

Physical Causes:   

  • Time of Year: Snow had melted in the York Moors, this causes the ground to become saturated.
