Strength - controlled observations capture fine details
Observations of mother-infant interactions are usually well-controlled, with both mother and infant being filmed, often from multiple angles. This ensures very fine details of behaviour can be recorded and later analysed. Furthermore, babies do not know/care that they are being observed, so their behaviour is not affected by the presence of the observer
