Carding Mill Valle Fieldwork

Method:

River Width and Depth (Bar Chart) -

• systematic sampling of three sites
• measured the depth and width with a metre stick held upright
• gave us first hand measurements of the river at the time
• bradshaw model suggests both should change downstream
• chose three sites to rule out any anomalies
• measured the lightspout river

Limitations:

• small sample size
• anomalies appear more significant

only visited once, following a dry period

Sediment Load Roundness (Pie Chart) -

• random sampling of ten pieces of load
• compared against power's roundness scale
• ten samples from three different sites to compare to bradshaw model
• first hand results of roundness
