CARDIAC ARREST

CARDIAC ARREST = happens when your heart stops pumping blood around your body. 

CAUSE

• losing a large amount of blood
• using recreational drugs such as cocaine
• a lack of oxygen in your body
• life-threatening abnormal heart rhythm called ventricular fibrillation 
• electrocution

SYMPTOMS

• sudden collapse
• no pulse
• no breathing
• loss of consciousness

OTHER:

• fatigue 
• chest pain
• blackouts
• weakness
• vomiting

P.I.E.S.F

PHYSICAL

• fainting, chest pain, raising heartbeat, no pulse, dizziness
• take a long time to recover
• exercise at least 30 mins a day

INTELLECTUAL

• educated on the condition
• some cardiac arrest survivors have demonstrated some impairment in concentration ability or not being able to learn or recall anything
• unable to concentrate in work/school as worried about it happening again

EMOTIONAL

• feel stress/worried/upset about the condition
• anxious it could happen again
• post-traumatic stress disorder and depression
