  • Carbohydrates contain carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. 
  • Their main function is to provide energy.
  • Carbohydrates are broken down into glucose which is a simple carbohydrate.
  • Excess glucose is converted into fatty acids and stored as body fat.
  • Starch and sugar are the main carbohydrates.

Monnosaccharides - single/simpple sugars

Glucose - found in fruit and vegetables, brain food

Fructose - fruit sugar
